New Editor for the European Journal of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery (EJVES)
The editorial team of EJVES will evolve in 2027 and we are advertising one Section Editor position.
The successful candidate will be assigned to a section depending on their interests, expertise and the needs of the journal, following discussion with the Editor-in-Chief and Senior Editor.
If you are interested in joining the team, please follow the link below, which provides important information about the post and the application process.
The term of office is three years and can be renewed twice. Rotations between editorial sections may take place following discussion with the senior editors and are not subject to external application. It is therefore possible that an Editor may become responsible for another section of the journal during their term.
About the application process
EJVES has an established career pathway in scientific publishing within the field of vascular surgery, progressing from Reviewer to Editorial Board (EB) member and, ultimately, Editor.
We invite scholars to review papers, and this peer review system is key to the success of the journal. In November each year, the Editorial Board is renewed based on reviewer performance over the preceding 12 and 24 months. Each review is scored between 1 and 100 according to its quality. To qualify for invitation to the Editorial Board, reviewers should normally have completed at least 10 reviews during the previous year, with a mean score above 70. In addition, at least two thirds of review invitations should have been accepted and 80% of reports submitted within the required timeframe (normally three weeks).
When selecting new Editors, members of the Editorial Board are therefore those we would normally consider, and a specific invitation to apply will be sent to all EJVES Editorial Board members. However, we recognise that individuals may have experience with other journals or other academic experience that makes them suitable for an Editor position at EJVES, and all applications will be considered.
The application should include:
1. A letter of intention outlining why you are applying for the post and any thoughts you have about the future development of EJVES (maximum two pages).
2. A short CV outlining your most important academic achievements (maximum two pages).
3. A list of peer-reviewed articles published in scientific journals with a Journal Impact Factor. Please highlight your 10 most important publications.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an online interview with the Editor-in-Chief and Senior Editor. Interviews are expected to take place on Monday, 9 November 2026, between 17:00 and 20:00 CET.
An honorarium is linked to the position.
