The faculty teaching you includes:
Michele Piazza MD, Associate Professor Vascular Surgery Padova University,
Michele Antonello MD, PhD, Associate Professor Head Endovascular Division Padova University, and
Stephan Haulon MD, Head of Department of Aortic and Vascular Surgery, Hopital Marie Lannelongue, Paris.
Objectives:Â This workshop aims to develop knowledge on indications for treatment, patient anatomical selection, intraoperative technical aspects, tips and tricks, device characteristics and options for repair. Three different platforms for aortic arch devices will be analysed. In addition, planning options, techniques for device implantations and how to perform a safe and effective procedure will be examined.
Day 1, there will be a deep discussion on indications and guidelines for endovascular aortic arch repair. A practical step-by-step, recorded case-based session, will be presented and critically analysed with participants, for different platforms. In particular, major aspects will include patient selection, graft selection based on patient anatomy, planning, how to conduct the procedure and how to minimise possible risks of major complications such as a stroke. The discussion is based on an informal and active interaction between participants and the faculty.
Day 2, Real world cases will be reviewed with a CT angiogram and planning, with different platforms, will be developed by participants, with the support of the faculty. On bench step-by-step implantation of the different endograft will be performed by participants on dedicated simulators, with a 3D printed aortic case; the procedure will be performed in a dedicated hybrid room, for fluoroscopy use.
Participant level:Â The course is advanced and designed for vascular surgeons who have experience with endovascular thoracic and abdominal endovascular aortic repair and want to expand their knowledge to more complex distal arch and total arch repair. It is required to have a basic experience on surgical and endovascular supraortic vessel management as well as principles of TEVAR patient selection, implantation and post-operative management. A screening questionnaire will assess if you are at the right level for the course.
Accreditation:Â CME and Medtech accreditation are being requested for this course.
Registration & Cancellation Policy: The registration fee is € 500 for ESVS members and € 650 for non-members. It includes course material, lunch, coffee breaks and networking dinner. The fee does not include transportation, accommodation and additional meals. Applicants will be informed if they meet the criteria and if so, you will be asked to pay the fee in accordance with your membership status via the ESVS website. For any remaining questions on course content, please contact the course organiser michele.piazza@unipd.it.
If the course is cancelled, an announcement will be made on the website no later than one calendar month before the course starts and all registrants will be informed. Travel and accommodation must therefore not be booked until this date has passed – ESVS is not financially responsible if the event has to be cancelled due to low numbers, in this timeframe. For cancellations received by participants more than one calendar month before the event, a refund will be given less an administration fee of 10 EUR. For cancellations after this point, no refund is possible. Participants are advised that photographs and video recordings may be taken during the course.
