Objectives: In this 2-day workshop focus will be on the treatment of vascular and endovascular graft infection. Besides didactive lectures and case-based presentation with interactive discussion participants will be able to learn in the hands-on sessions (explanting stent graft, aortobifemoral bypass, endovascular techniques and assessing imaging results suspected on graft infection etc.).

 

Learning objectives: To learn to apply methods of aortic graft infection management techniques.

At the end of this 2-day workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Recognise the clinical presentation and diagnostic criteria of vascular graft and endograft infections (VGEI).
  • Apply appropriate imaging modalities to diagnose graft infections accurately.
  • Understand the microbiology, pathogenesis and role of antibiotic therapy in VGEI.
  • Perform key steps of open surgical management of infected aortic grafts, including aorto-bi-femoral bypass explantation.
  • Perform essential steps in endovascular management strategies.
  • Critically discuss challenging VGEI cases and choose optimal treatment strategies based on current evidence.
  • Execute hands-on skills in plastic models and cadaveric simulations relevant to explanting stent grafts and managing complex infection.

 

Full Programme

 

Level: Advanced physicians who already have experience in basic vascular and endovascular thoracic and abdominal aortic procedures. The course is designed for Vascular surgeons, vascular surgery fellows, and senior trainees.

 

Accreditation: CME accreditation is being sought for this course. The course is being submitted to the Medtech CVS system.

 

Registration and cancellation terms: € 650 for ESVS members and € 810 for non-members. The fee includes course material, coffee and lunch breaks and a networking dinner. Transport, accommodation and additional meals are not included. The final decision of whether the course will be conducted is announced on the website no later than one calendar month before the course starts. Travel and accommodation must therefore not be booked until this message is given – ESVS is not financially responsible if the event has to be cancelled due to low numbers, in this timeframe. For cancellations received by participants more than one calendar month before the event, a refund will be given less an administration fee of 10 EUR. For cancellations received after this, no refund is possible.

By participating in the course and entering in the venue, you consent to the publication, release, exhibition and reproduction of such materials to be used for the ESVS website, ESVS communications and on ESVS social media.
