The EJVES Vascular Forum (EJVES VF) received its first Journal Impact Factor. It was 0.6 at the time and has increased to 1.8 by 2024.

The ESVS consisted of over 3,000 members.

Vascular research made accessible
The EJVES Vascular Forum (EJVES VF) was reborn in 2020, with the ambition to take the ESVS’s second peer-reviewed, open-access, online-only journal to the next level.
The EJVES also received a record-breaking impact factor of 7.069.

Bringing innovations to the community
The Annual Meeting Programme Committee was created with the main focus of leading the scientific programme of the meeting.

Professionalising the ESVS
The administrative office opened in Bordeaux, France, to better support its growing community and mission.

Leading the way in science
European Journal of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery (EJVES) became “the leading journal in vascular surgery” when it first achieved top-rank status in its field.


and in education
The Education and Training Committee became the ESVS Academy. A brand new event was also created – ESVS Mastercl@ss Live, where leading experts in vascular surgery presented educational cases.

European Collaboration
VASCUNET was established at the Annual Meeting in Lisbon, Portugal. VASCUNET is a collaboration of clinical and administrative vascular registries, administered and partly funded by the European Society of Vascular Surgery (ESVS).

Inauguration
The European Society for Vascular Surgery was founded and inaugurated on the 6th of May, 1987 in London.
Dawn of the Journal
A company named “The European Society for Vascular Surgery” was bought to manage the European Journal of Vascular Surgery, which was first published in February 1987.
