We are delighted to invite you to the ground-breaking MARB course—a once-in-a-lifetime chance for 12 vascular surgeons to holistically improve their abilities in managing ruptured aortic aneurysms (RAAA). It is a 2-day intense course that seeks to cover all the details regarding a ruptured aneurysm.

This two-day program is meticulously designed to equip you with comprehensive knowledge and practical tools that can be applied in your practice immediately. You will collaborate with several professionals to benefit from all available knowledge from various perspectives:

  • Haemodynamic RAAA Approach: Explore patient management strategies with input from anaesthesiologists.
  • Radiological Interpretation: Master the art of interpreting CT scans accurately.
  • Vascular RAAA Management: Learn aortic clamping techniques through hands-on simulation.
  • Abdominal Compartment Syndrome: Understand identification and treatment with insights from a general surgeon.
  • Non-Technical Abilities: Develop crucial non-technical skills for emergencies and team performance.

Program Description

Duration: 20 hours over two intense days.
Format: Face-to-face sessions with small group collaboration and expert supervision.

Morning Sessions:

  • Haemodynamic RAAA Approach: Explore patient management strategies with input from anaesthesiologists.
  • Radiological Interpretation: Master the art of interpreting CT scans accurately.
  • Vascular RAAA Management: Learn aortic clamping techniques through hands-on simulation.
  • Abdominal Compartment Syndrome: Understand identification and treatment with insights from a general surgeon.

Afternoon Sessions:

  • Dissection Room: Delve into the anatomy of the aorta and practice atypical aortic approaches on cadaver models.
  • Hybrid Operation Room: Apply AAAR management techniques in a simulated environment, followed by a comprehensive debriefing.

Participant level: The target group are vascular surgeons with limited experience in RAAA management. Participants will work in teams of three based on prior experience.
Registration & Cancellation Policy: The registration fee is €950 for ESVS members and €1100 for non-members. It includes course materials, coffees, lunches and a networking dinner on the first night. Transport, accommodation and additional meals are not included. Please note that the course is dependent on final registration numbers. If the course is cancelled, an announcement will be made on the website no later than one calendar month before the course starts and all registrants will be informed. Travel and accommodation must therefore not be booked until this date has passed – ESVS is not financially responsible if the event has to be cancelled due to low numbers, in this timeframe. For cancellations received by participants more than 20 days before the event, a refund will be given less an administration fee of 10 EUR. For cancellations received less than 10 days before the event, no refund is possible. Please be aware that the online session will be recorded and may be used by the ESVS on our website, in the e-library and on our social media channels.
