Objective
The increased survival of patients in dialysis and the gradual increase in the age of uremic patients commencing chronic dialysis raises serious problems for the creation and maintenance of efficient vascular access. In cases in where it is extremely difficult to create arteriovenous fistulas (AVF) using existing upper limb veins, it is possible to resort to vascular grafts, lower limb AVF. Experts in the field will share their experience in particularly challenging situations necessitating complex procedures. The course is designed to give the participants wider knowledge useful in their daily practice. By attending this course, participants will learn treatment strategies in difficult access scenarios. A thought that there is no unique and perfect treatment modality for each patient will be presented and highlighted.
Target audience: The course is designed for vascular surgeons who are performing vascular access surgery. An intermediate level of knowledge of vascular access is expected.
Registration and Cancellation policy: € 25 for ESVS members and € 30 for non-members. Please note that the course is dependent on final registration numbers. Where registration numbers are too low to run the course, this will be announced on the website no later than 48 hours before the course starts. For cancellations received more than 10 days before the event, a refund will be given less an administration fee of EUR10. For cancellations received less than 5 days before the event, no refund is possible. Participants are aware that the online session will be recorded and may be used by the ESVS on our website, social media channels and e-library. By participating in the course, you consent to the publication of such materials and their use, by the ESVS.
