This part of the course prepares candidates for the viva voce section of the examination. \n  \nSmall group viva voce exam practice\, covering FEBVS curriculum topics on vascular disease. The viva voce practice will follow the format of case-based discussion with PowerPoint slides to focus questions and answers. The session is mapped to the FEBVS curriculum and covers a wide range of vascular conditions. Clinical presentation\, pathology\, investigation including imaging and treatment options will be covered during the session. Participants will be split into groups with one member of faculty for each group. Each participant will be asked to manage a clinical scenario for a minimum of 10 minutes under simulated (online) exam conditions whilst the other members of the group observe the discussion. Timings need to be strictly adhered to and will accommodate the number of candidates in each session. The timing of the session will allow for some feedback from the convenors on your performance as well as the chance for candidates to ask any questions. \n  \nOn completion of this section of the course\, as well as assimilating knowledge of lower limb\, carotid\, aortic and venous conditions\, candidates will have a high level of understanding of how to approach answering clinical oral exam questions in an ordered\, organised and logical way. On completion of the course the candidate will have improved their chance of passing the FEBVS examination. \n  \nTarget audience: The course is designed for all vascular surgical trainees who are considering taking professional exams in vascular surgery. \n  \nRegistration and cancellation policy: € 25 for ESVS members and € 30 for non-members. SUMMARY:ESVS Optimal Pre-\, Intra- and Post-Operative Aortic Imaging - A Case-Based Approach to Type B Dissection - 2026
DESCRIPTION:Join the expert faculty:\n \nFrederico Bastos Gonçalves – Lisbon\, Portugal\nNuno Dias – Malmö\, Sweden\nSergi Bellmunt – Barcelona\, Spain\nOthers to be confirmed \n  \nCourse objective: Advances in imaging have transformed the management of aortic disease\, particularly in the diagnosis\, procedural planning and follow-up of type B aortic dissection. This ESVS Academy workshop provides an intensive\, case-based exploration of modern aortic imaging strategies across the entire patient pathway. Using a real-world type B dissection case as the central learning framework\, participants will explore how imaging guides clinical decision-making from initial diagnosis through intervention and long-term surveillance. The course will focus on practical optimisation of imaging techniques\, including dynamic CTA and MRA\, fusion imaging\, IVUS\, CO₂ angiography\, cone-beam CT and contrast-enhanced duplex ultrasound. Designed as a highly interactive learning experience\, the workshop combines focused expert lectures with hands-on practical sessions and a simulation-based operating room scenario. Participants will work in small groups to analyse imaging datasets\, plan treatment strategies and perform simulated procedures\, while learning how to optimise intra-operative imaging and manage technical challenges. The second day features a structured simulation exercise in which participants plan and perform treatment of a type B dissection in a realistic OR environment\, integrating advanced imaging tools and team-based decision making. \nFull Programme \n  \nAccreditation: CME accreditation is not being sought for this course. Medtech accreditation is being sought. \n  \nParticipant qualifications: The workshop is intended for vascular surgeons and trainees interested in improving their understanding and practical use of advanced imaging techniques in aortic interventions. The course is of an intermediate / advanced level. \n  \nRegistration fee & cancellation policy: The registration fee is € 520 for ESVS members and € 650 for non-members. The fee includes course material\, coffees and lunch. Transport\, accommodation and additional meals are not included. SUMMARY:ESVS Viva Voce practice for the FEBVS exam - September 2026
DESCRIPTION:Due to popular demand\, the ESVS Viva Voce practice for the FEBVS exam is back\, with three sessions this year! \n  \nJoin: Alexandra Gratl and others\, to be confirmed\, in the September 2026 edition. \n  \nObjective: The overarching objective of this course is to prepare candidates for some of the different parts of the FEBVS examination. Please note that the course is dependent on final registration numbers. Where registration numbers are too low to run the course\, this will be announced on the website no later than 48 hours before the course starts.
