SUMMARY:Endovascular toolkit in arteriovenous fistula dysfunction 2026
DESCRIPTION:Please note\, this course is now confirmed.\nJoin: Joana Ferreira (vascular surgeon\, Portugal) \, Maarten Snoeijs (Vascular surgeon\, NL)\, Narayan Karunanithy (Interventional radiologist\, UK)\, Roberta Brambilla (vascular surgeon\, UK) \n  \nObjective: The aim of this workshop is to give the participants an overview about endovascular tools which can be useful for fistula dysfunction.  Fistulae often require interventions during their lifetime to improve or maintain their function and quality on dialysis. Endovascular techniques are often needed and used by interventional radiologist and vascular surgeons to tackle most common dysfunctions like thrombosis\, stenosis\, pseudoaneurysms\, etc . This course is designed to give participants knowledge that they can use in their daily practice through a description of case scenarios and discussions in between specialists in the field. By attending this course\, participants will know the basic tools to treat fistula dysfunction (stenosis\, thrombosis) and the indications for some specific treatment modalities and be able to decide if they are the most appropriate for a given patient. \n  \nRegistration and cancellation policy: € 25 for ESVS members and € 30 for non-members. Please note that the course is dependent on final registration numbers. Where registration numbers are too low to run the course\, this will be announced on the website no later than 48 hours before the course starts. For cancellations received more than 10 days before the event\, a refund will be given less an administration fee of EUR10. For cancellations received less than 10 days before the event\, no refund is possible. Please be aware that the online session will be recorded and following the session we may share snippets of the recording across social media and communication platforms and in our ESVS Communications. Giannoukas\, University Hospital of Larissa\, Greece;\nDavid Garcia García\, Spain \nModerators:\nDr. Petar Zlatanovic\,\nDr Gabriela Loria\,\nDr Konstantinos Tzimkas-Dakis\,\nDr Desiree van den Hondel \nThis competition is designed to enhance and promote knowledge in managing patients with chronic limb-threatening ischaemia and femoro-distal lesions\, starting from preoperative planning until postoperative patient management (whole spectrum of care). Applicants should have experience in the management of CLTI patients with complex femoro-distal lesions before applying for this competition. \nHow will it work?\nOnce participants have submitted their motivation letter\, they will be invited to complete a quiz. Candidates will be shortlisted based on their motivation letter and quiz score. The three best candidates will be selected and will receive a preselected case with diagnostic CTA to solve. Each selected participant should prepare to present a solution for the proposed case (~5 min presentation + ~5 min discussion) starting from pre- and postoperative planning\, continuing with procedure itself and finishing with postoperative workup. The case description with all necessary data will be provided beforehand. The faculty will present the actual solution that was carried out! Afterwards\, a jury consisting of faculty and EVST moderators\, helped by the audience votes\, will announce the winner at the end of the competition! Applicants should have experience in vascular trauma before applying for this competition. \nHow will the Vascular Trauma Online Competition work?\nOnce participants have submitted their motivation letter\, they will be invited to complete a quiz. Candidates will be shortlisted based on their motivation letter and quiz score. The six best candidates will be selected and will receive a preselected case with diagnostic CTA to solve. Each selected participant should prepare to present a solution for the proposed case (~5 min presentation + ~5 min discussion) starting from pre- and postoperative planning\, continuing with procedure itself and finishing with postoperative workup. The case description with all necessary data will be provided beforehand. With fewer open surgeries performed annually\, the number of trainees and junior surgeons with adequate experience will decline in the future. Due to the fact that open surgery is a more durable solution\, younger generations of vascular surgeons should be trained in both standard and complex open aortic surgery\, and the idea of this competition is to promote this important aspect of education for every vascular surgeon. This online competition is designed to enhance and promote the acquisition of AAA skills in planning and performing open aortic surgery. \nHow will it work?\nAfter applying\, participants will be provided with the case description and the necessary CTA in order to produce their presentation. The participants shortlisted to compete\, will attend the online competition where they will present a solution for a specific case that they’ve worked on and submitted in advance (7 minutes). The jury will then comment and ask each competitor specific questions related to their solution (5 minutes). After the competition element\, each of the senior faculty will present the actual solution that was carried out. Following a vote\, the winner will be announced at the end of the competition.  All of this will be performed in a relaxed and encouraging atmosphere\, so don’t be stressed! \nTarget audience: Participation in this competition is limited to EVST members.
