SUMMARY:ESVS Viva Voce practice for the FEBVS exam - April 2026
DESCRIPTION:Due to popular demand\, the ESVS Viva Voce practice for the FEBVS exam is back\, with three sessions this year! \n  \nJoin: Anne Burdess and and others\, to be confirmed\, in the April 2026 edition. \n  \nObjective: The overarching objective of this course is to prepare candidates for some of the different parts of the FEBVS examination. This part of the course prepares candidates for the viva voce section of the examination. \n  \nSmall group viva voce exam practice\, covering FEBVS curriculum topics on vascular disease. The viva voce practice will follow the format of case-based discussion with PowerPoint slides to focus questions and answers. The session is mapped to the FEBVS curriculum and covers a wide range of vascular conditions. Clinical presentation\, pathology\, investigation including imaging and treatment options will be covered during the session. Participants will be split into groups with one member of faculty for each group. Each participant will be asked to manage a clinical scenario for a minimum of 10 minutes under simulated (online) exam conditions whilst the other members of the group observe the discussion. Timings need to be strictly adhered to and will accommodate the number of candidates in each session. The timing of the session will allow for some feedback from the convenors on your performance as well as the chance for candidates to ask any questions. \n  \nOn completion of this section of the course\, as well as assimilating knowledge of lower limb\, carotid\, aortic and venous conditions\, candidates will have a high level of understanding of how to approach answering clinical oral exam questions in an ordered\, organised and logical way. On completion of the course the candidate will have improved their chance of passing the FEBVS examination. \n  \nTarget audience: The course is designed for all vascular surgical trainees who are considering taking professional exams in vascular surgery. \n  \nRegistration and cancellation policy: € 25 for ESVS members and € 30 for non-members. Please note that the course is dependent on final registration numbers. Where registration numbers are too low to run the course\, this will be announced on the website no later than 48 hours before the course starts. This course is designed to give participants knowledge that they can use in their daily practice through a description of case scenarios and discussions in between specialists in the field. By attending this course\, participants will know the basic tools to treat fistula dysfunction (stenosis\, thrombosis) and the indications for some specific treatment modalities and be able to decide if they are the most appropriate for a given patient. \n  \nRegistration and cancellation policy: € 25 for ESVS members and € 30 for non-members. Please note that the course is dependent on final registration numbers. SUMMARY:EVST Aortic Competition (online)
DESCRIPTION:EVST invites you to the special Aortic Online Competition on 5th June 2023 \nParticipation in this competition is limited to EVST members\, but all who wish to watch are invited to join. Further details will be shared closer to the event. \nFaculty: Sebastian Debus\, Michael Jacobs\, Marko Dragas\, Xavier Berard\, Zoran Rancic (Academy)\nModerators: Petar Zlatanovic\, Vaiva Dabravolskaite\, Liliana Domingos (EVST) \nDespite the advances of endovascular AAA repair\, open surgery still remains a treatment option for a certain pool of patients. With fewer open surgeries performed annually\, the number of trainees and junior surgeons with adequate experience will decline in the future. Due to the fact that open surgery is a more durable solution\, younger generations of vascular surgeons should be trained in both standard and complex open aortic surgery\, and the idea of this competition is to promote this important aspect of education for every vascular surgeon. This online competition is designed to enhance and promote the acquisition of AAA skills in planning and performing open aortic surgery. \nHow will it work?\nAfter applying\, participants will be provided with the case description and the necessary CTA in order to produce their presentation. The participants shortlisted to compete\, will attend the online competition where they will present a solution for a specific case that they’ve worked on and submitted in advance (7 minutes). After the competition element\, each of the senior faculty will present the actual solution that was carried out. Following a vote\, the winner will be announced at the end of the competition.  All of this will be performed in a relaxed and encouraging atmosphere\, so don’t be stressed! \nTarget audience: Participation in this competition is limited to EVST members.
