Objective: This course gives practical experience with regards to creation of radiocephalic and brachiocephalic fistula. Participants will be taught the steps needed to create a hemodailysis fistula and will execute the procedure on a plastic model at home, under the supervision of a tutor who will remotely guide the attendees. The participants will receive a vascular simulator kit containing a radial artery and a ulnar and cephalic veins and surgical instruments needed to perform arteriovenous fistula surgery. Arteriovenous fistulas (AVF) have higher patency rates and fewer complications than arteriovenous grafts and central venous catheters. Therefore, all clinical guidelines have favoured their use. The surgeon’s skills have a relevant role in the primary failure rate and practising on a simulator such this one is an excellent way to prepare to the real case, and practising the anastomosis at the participant’s pace. Thus the course is designed to give the participants wider knowledge and surgical skills useful in their daily practice.
Attending this workshops participants will receive an anastomosis kit at home and will learn how to create an arteriovenous fistula.
Target audience: This course is designed for vascular surgeons and vascular surgeon in training with basic or intermediate knowledge of vascular access.

Once your registration has been confirmed and your equipment kit ordered we are unable to issue refunds. The final decision of whether the course will be conducted is announced on the website no later than one month before the course starts. Participants should be aware that the online session will be recorded and may be used by the ESVS on our website, e-library and social media platforms.
