The ESVS annual meeting is a unique opportunity to attend top line communications from all over Europe, workshops supervised by key-opinion leaders and to present our research. Prize and Fast-Track sessions is a great occasion to be evaluated by renowned experts, and this definitely represents a motivation to work hard to reach the ESVS standards. The level of the participants and their presentations in the Prize Session was very high, and winning this Prize made me feel honored and grateful to my LVTS team. More than a personal achievement, this Prize represented an international recognition of our work and a great boost to continue my work in pre-clinical research after my PhD. I look forward to submit my work in the future and to encourage colleagues and trainees to do so, as this experience was truly challenging, and fulfilling!

Jean SENEMAUD

Prize Winner - Best oral presentation 2023

I submitted my abstract to the ESVS Annual Meeting 2023 to promote awareness of this important – and sometimes overlooked – topic. It was also to challenge myself, to stand up and present the work to our vascular community, answer questions and engage discussion. It was such an impressive forum that I would definitely submit further work to future meetings. I was honoured to win this prize, especially given that I’m Irish and the meeting was in Ireland! As a trainee, it was a great experience to meet peers, experts and industry from across Europe, to make connections and to see what opportunities are possible for my future career.

Prize Winner - Best oral presentation 2023

My decision to submit the abstract was driven by a desire to present our findings to a European audience, as well as to gain insights into other machine learning and AI projects unfolding across Europe. I am definitely inclined to present more of our research at future ESVS meetings and am eager to stay informed of the innovations and work of other research groups. Winning this award is not only an honour, but it has also invigorated my passion for research. I aim to build upon the work I’ve showcased, and I hope this recognition will be the start of building a reputation for quality research throughout Europe

ESVS provides an excellent platform for young budding surgeons to interact with the established pioneers in the field of vascular surgery. It has provided me along with many of the upcoming surgeons with this great opportunity to explore what the true potentials of vascular surgery are. The organisation of the event was flawless and I feel proud to be a part of such an amazing collaboration and look forward for the future events

Prize Winner - Best e-poster presentation 2023

The ESVS Annual Meeting is the platform and best opportunity to discuss how the latest scientific lessons correlate with the collective clinical experience from Europe and all over the world. It is beyond exciting and a true honour to win a prize! It is an invaluable recognition from the EVST committee and young vascular colleagues that we are here to bridge the gender gap in abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) treatment outcomes. We are quantifying it, and slowly but steadily making progress in mapping definitive underlying causes. It is our mutual inspiration and aspiration that future AAA management is evidence-based and robust for all patients regardless of gender. It is all very exciting! The discussions, sessions and all surrounding activities pave the way for collaborations and many new ideas. I am very much looking forward to meeting all old and new friends again next year.

Mareia Talvitie

Prize Winner - Best EVST presentation 2023

I have submitted the abstract to the ESVS Meeting because I strongly believe it is a leading worldwide vascular meeting and being part of this important event it is a fundamental part in a young vascular surgeon career, education and a turning point for meeting european peers and attend highest level conferences and updates. Abstract submission opens up the possibility to be part of the event and contribute to ESVS knowledge.

For sure I will submit an abstract again in the future for the ESVS events. Unfortunately, I will no longer be part of the EVST since I have gone over my training time, but I strongly believe that every vascular surgeon in training that are interested in the research field should submit an abstract in the EVST sessions. I strongly believe, even considering the past events, that the level of sessions are extremely high and at the same time impact topics of everyday experience when being a young consultant soon after the end of the training period.
