Call for ESVS Councillors 2025
The ESVS is calling for candidates for ESVS Councillors 2025. Elections for ESVS Councillor are open to full members from Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Greece, Hungary, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Croatia, Estonia, USA, South Korea, and Indonesia.
The job description of an ESVS councillor includes the following responsibilities:
- An ESVS Councillor must be a member of their National Society in addition to being a member of the ESVS (for the duration of their mandate). It is encouraged (although not required) that Councillors hold a leadership position within their National Society.
- Actively promote the ESVS and its activities, as well as work towards increasing the ESVS membership in your country and through your National Society.
- Being an ambassador and a source of information about vascular surgery in your country and give a regular short report to your National Society about ESVS. This includes data on the number of vascular surgeons and trainees in your country, and the gender split within your country, if these statistics are available, for instance.
- Councillors may be requested to share details about vascular care in their countries, and their link to National Societies.
- The Executive Committee will send out activity reports to the Councillors in advance of the Council meetings. Councillors are asked to read reports ahead of the meeting as onsite reports will be very short. The remaining time will be allocated to open discussion. These meetings also allow for Councillors to contribute any topics of interest or share ideas.
- Councillors may be asked to participate in ESVS activities, such as grant application reviewing, abstract reviewing and fast-track presentation judging.
Those wishing to apply for the position of Councillor will be invited to submit their application through the ESVS website. Candidates will be asked to provide information about their background, career stage, and motivation for applying for the role. The information submitted will be made public and shared with voters, to better inform them of the candidates’ profiles before casting their vote. Candidates must provide a letter of good standing from their National Society or National Medical Agency at the time of applying. Points to note:
- Councillors must cover their own costs to attend the annual Council meeting(s).
- Councillors receive an invitation to dinner during the ESVS Annual Meeting.
- Councillors cannot be re-elected.
Deadline to submit your application: 31.01.2025 Review of applications and selection of councillors: by 31.03.2025 The selected candidate will start his/her term in September 2025 and for a duration of 3 years.
