ESVS Viva Voce practice for the FEBVS exam – September 2025
Due to popular demand, the ESVS Viva Voce practice for the FEBVS exam is back, with three sessions this year! Join: Eline Van Hattum and Martin Teraa in the September 2025 edition. Objective: The overarching objective of this course is to prepare candidates for some of the different parts of the FEBVS examination. This part of the course prepares candidates for the viva voce section of the examination. Small group viva voce exam practice, covering FEBVS curriculum topics on vascular disease. The viva voce practice will follow the format of case-based discussion with PowerPoint slides to focus questions and answers. The session is mapped to the FEBVS curriculum and covers a wide range of vascular conditions. Clinical presentation, pathology, investigation including imaging and treatment options will be covered during the session. Participants will be split into groups with one member of faculty for each group. Each participant will be asked to manage a clinical scenario for a minimum of 10 minutes under simulated (online) exam conditions whilst the other members of the group observe the discussion. Advanced workshop of endovascular aortic arch repair 2025
Padova University Hospital , ItalyWe are pleased to announce a new course in the aortic programme, in collaboration with the Vascular Endovascular Surgery Clinic, Padova University Hospital – Italy The faculty teaching you includes: Michele Piazza MD, Associate Professor Vascular Surgery Padova University, Michele Antonello MD, PhD, Associate Professor Head Endovascular Division Padova University, and Stephan Haulon MD, Head of Department of Aortic and Vascular Surgery, Hopital Marie Lannelongue, Paris. Objectives: This workshop aims to develop knowledge on indications for treatment, patient anatomical selection, intraoperative technical aspects, tips and tricks, device characteristics and options for repair. Three different platforms for aortic arch devices will be analysed. In addition, planning options, techniques for device implantations and how to perform a safe and effective procedure will be examined. Day 1, there will be a deep discussion on indications and guidelines for endovascular aortic arch repair. A practical step-by-step, recorded case-based session, will be presented and critically analysed with participants, for different platforms. In particular, major aspects will include patient selection, graft selection based on patient anatomy, planning, how to conduct the procedure and how to minimise possible risks of major complications such as a stroke. Twelve vascular surgeons who will have to deal with the management of a ruptured aortic aneurysm (RAAA) are the target audience for the novel and exclusive MARB course. It is a 2-day course that seeks to cover all the details regarding a ruptured aneurysm. The course aims to offer students the skills they need to manage the RAAA comprehensively and empower them. We also intend to provide students with the tools to create a programme to improve RAAA management in their centre. We will give them the resources needed to manage a RAAA effectively, to export and apply the information and behaviours they learned in their home country.
